If you are connecting a new wired device to the wireless router we provided, please follow the following steps to establish a connection.

  1. Connect a Cat5/6 Ethernet line from the device to an open LAN port on the back of the Metro Loop provided wireless router.
  2. Confirm the device's network connection method is set to DHCP or automatic IP address assignment. Most devices will use this setting by default.
  3. Test the device's connection. You should be online.
  4. If you are having problems and would like to verify you are connected please see the steps below for Windows and Macintosh systems.
    4.1) Windows
In most versions of Windows OS you will see a network icon in the notification tray in the bottom right corner of the screen, near the time. You may need to click the small arrow near the time to expand the icons.
Hovering over the network icon should show you are connected with Internet access.
Alternately if you click Start > Control Panel (Start and type Control Panel on Windows 10) and choose Network and Sharing Center. Here you should see a network name and the connection, in this case Local Area Connection.
Click on Local Area Connection and you should see a new window showing the network properties.
Click the Details button and you should see an IP address starting with 192.168, this means you are connected to the wireless router.

    4.2) Macintosh
In most MacOS versions you can find your connection by going to the Apple menu > System Preferences and click on Network on the left.
You should see Ethernet lit with a green light. Clicking on Ethernet should show you setup on DHCP and an IP address starting with 192.168 in the right hand pane, this means you have a connection from the wireless router.
